User Based Casting is now geared toward facilitating critique-swapping and peer-to-peer networking only; self-promoting is your responsibility.
Get Started (Blog)
To begin, create a new blog. (I'd recommend using Blogspot.) You can use any template or theme you'd like. Add a profile picture, any information you'd like to share, and open a Youtube or Vimeo account if you don't already have one.
Create two new pages on your blog titled "Résumé" (if applicable) and "Contact." Double-check that the content you're posting does not contain sensitive information (such as your home address or cell phone number); for the Contact page, just an email address will do!
Upload any and all videos to Youtube, Vimeo, or any other service that allows you to embed your videos in a blog post. Although you're welcome to ask for feedback through Youtube directly, I would suggest using the "link-only" privacy setting for monologues and publishing them through your blog (either individually or in clusters; it's up to you).
To link to your videos in the Tab bar:
1. Label all relevant posts with "#userbasedcastingvideos".
2. Open the Blogspot Dashboard for your blog and click "Layout."
3. Click to edit the "Pages" module.
4. Paste the following URL into the "Add An External Link" URL field, change "YOURURL" to your actual URL and title it with "Videos": http://YOURURL.blogspot.com/search/label/%23userbasedcastingvideos
5. Re-order the tabs by dragging them into place (if applicable) and hit Save.
You can further separate your videos by assigning a hashtag label to a particular character or series (ex: #maxlovesshoes, #maxrideUBC) and updating this link accordingly:
http://YOURURL.blogspot.com/search/label/%23YOURLABELHERE
- (Note that "%23" represents the pound sign (#), so don't type one before your label's name in the URL!)
To correctly tag/label your videos:
Please label your videos with #userbasedcasting and #[series title/abbreviation]UBC. If you'd like to also tag your videos by character, please refer to the suggested labels listed on the Monologues Archive page. There's no need to use these tags on Youtube if you decide to publish your videos as individual blog posts.
